Questions from the Floor

Quick answers about the bulletin, submissions, POAs, delegates, and the contract.

  • Who runs The Bedside Shift Report?

Rank-and-file nurses in the CWA Local 1104 bargaining unit at NewYork–Presbyterian Lower Manhattan. It's written and edited by nurses on the floor — not the hospital, not management.
  • Who is it for?

Every staff nurse at NYP–LMH. Delegates, stewards, per diems, nights, weekends — anyone who works a shift here.
  • How do I submit a story, tip, or photo?

Use the Submit page, or email editors@thebedsideshiftreport.com. Anonymous submissions are welcome. Never include patient health information (PHI).
  • What's a POA (Protest of Assignment)?

A written record you file when you're given an assignment you believe is unsafe. It documents the conditions in real time and protects you and your patients. See Know Your Rights for the full how-to.
  • How do I become a delegate?

Start at Become a Delegate. Or call the Delegate Line at (401) 646-4381 and we'll route you to your unit's team.
  • Where can I read past issues?

The full back catalog lives at /archive. You can also subscribe via RSS or get every issue in your inbox using the signup at the bottom of any page.
  • Is my submission confidential?

Yes. We never share names without explicit permission. We strip identifying details unless you ask us to publish them.
  • Where do I find the contract?

The full collective bargaining agreement and a plain-English summary are at /know-your-rights.
