What this newsletter is for

Our purpose

Our purpose is to share contract education, staffing documentation reminders, nurse stories, workplace updates, and member-to-member information related to staffing, safety, and working conditions.

What we cover

Contract education

Plain-language explanations of the language we already won — what it says, when it applies, and how to use it.

Staffing documentation

POA support and documentation reminders — what to write down on the form (filled out in person with your delegate) and why factual records matter.

Nurse stories

Member-written notes from the floor — wins, frustrations, shout-outs, and the lived reality of the contract.

Workplace updates

Bargaining-related news, labor-management notes, and member-to-member information on safety and working conditions.

Member-to-member, by design

The Bedside Shift Report is written and edited by your coworkers. If something on your unit needs to be heard, send it in. Anonymous submission is available when you do not provide your name or contact information. Some technical metadata may be processed by the website platform.

Contact your delegates

For workplace questions, contract issues, POA support, and urgent safety concerns, reach out to the delegates on your unit. Find names, roles, and contact info on each unit page below.

For discipline, investigatory meetings, or grievances — contact a delegate before a meeting starts. You have the right to union representation.

Important notes

The Bedside Shift Report is a rank-and-file nurse newsletter created for bargaining-unit nurses. It is not an official statement of CWA Local 1104, NYP, or hospital management unless specifically identified as such.

Do not submit patient names, MRNs, room numbers, screenshots, or patient-identifying details.

For discipline, investigatory meetings, grievances, or urgent safety concerns, contact a union delegate.
