★ Know Your Delegates ★

Find your delegate

Delegates are nurses on your unit — same scrubs, same shifts. Talk to a delegate early when something feels off, before it becomes harder to fix.

How to Reach a Delegate

Start with the delegate on your own unit — they know your floor and your schedule. If your unit doesn't have a delegate listed yet, or you can't reach them, contact our Chief Steward, Lavita Payton, RN, and we'll connect you with the right person. You don't have to wait for a crisis. Earlier is always better.

Unit

PACU

Supports nurses across every unit when issues escalate beyond a single floor — discipline, grievances, labor-management questions, and contract enforcement. A good first call when you are not sure where else to start.

Unit

5C / Med-Surg

Supports nurses managing heavy assignments, rising acuity, and the daily contract questions that come with a busy med-surg floor. A good place to bring staffing concerns, documentation questions, or repeat issues that need a paper trail.

Unit

Float Pool / Med-Surg

Supports nurses working across changing assignments, floating expectations, staffing concerns, and day-to-day contract questions. A good place to start when you need help making sense of an issue that keeps following you from unit to unit.

Unit

Neonatal ICU

Supports nurses caring for high-acuity newborns where safe staffing, specialty training, orientation, and patient safety are critical. Reach out with concerns about ratios, support, workflow, or unit-specific practice issues.

Unit

3C ICU

Supports critical-care nurses dealing with ratio breaches, missed breaks, skill-mix concerns, and the documentation that protects you and your patients. Bring patterns you are seeing on the unit so they can be tracked and escalated.

Unit

OB / Mother Baby

Supports postpartum nurses navigating staffing that does not match acuity, couplet-care concerns, and the contract language behind your assignments. Reach out when workload makes it hard to give patients and families the care they need.

Unit

Labor & Delivery

Supports L&D nurses working through high-acuity, fast-changing assignments where staffing and skill mix directly affect patient safety. A good place to bring concerns about ratios, support during emergencies, or unsafe workloads.

Unit

Ambulatory Surgery

Supports nurses dealing with schedule changes, on-call practices, last-minute add-ons, and the contract rules that protect your time. Reach out when shift expectations stop matching what the contract actually says.

Unit

Operating Room

Supports OR nurses navigating on-call rules, room assignments, staffing for long cases, and the contract language that protects perioperative practice. Reach out with concerns about workload, breaks, or unsafe coverage.
